This will probably not come as a surprise but, having an animal around has many benefits. Studies have shown that having a dog can help with many things. some of the biggest things include, lowering blood pressure releasing endorphins like oxytocin which can have a calming affect. also can give someone a reason to exercise by walking a dog frequently. Me being someone who grew up with a mental illness and always having a dog around, I would say it definitely helps. the walking that dogs need is nice because gave me a valid reason to exercise. they are truly calming and its really nice to have someone always around it make you feel safe.
